Medicare Questions: Answered

Medigap Questions

Q: I have a Medicare Advantage plan. Do I still need Medigap insurance?

A: You cannot purchase a Medicare Replacement Insurance or Medigap plan if you have a Medicare Advantage plan.

Q: If I have a Medigap policy and cancel it, can I get it back during open enrollment?

A: No, it's not real. The open enrollment period for Medicare supplemental insurance (which runs from October 15 to December 7) does not extend to Medigap supplemental insurance.

Medicare Advantage Questions

Q: Where do I find information about the Medicare Advantage plans in my area?

A: In most parts of the world, Medicare Advantage plans are affordable. Use the Medicare Plan Finder at www.medicare.gov/find-a-plan to start your quest for a plan, or contact the local State Health Insurance Assistance Program (or SHIP) at www.shiptacenter.org.

Q: Do Medicare Advantage plans include both Part A and Part B?

A: Both Part A and Part B must be included in Medicare Advantage plans.
